草間彌生 Yayoi Kusama
草間彌生，1929年生於日本長野，國際知名當代藝術家，素有「圓點女王」之稱。自小受神經性視聽障礙的影響而常有幻覺，在那些色彩繽紛、活潑躍動的創作中實則隱含「消融」的概念，其在作品中反覆繪製圓點，僅是為了讓自己從恐懼中解放出來─繪畫成了其自我救贖的良方。這般偏執卻也累積了無比的熱情動力，創作因而源源不絕、精采萬分。其創作主題極廣、媒材多元、辨識度高，舉凡繪畫、雕塑、行動裝置、裝置藝術等，皆展現出點點、無限的網、繁殖的獨創性。1990年後其投入商業藝術的領域，與時尚設計界合作，推出了帶有濃厚圓點風格的服飾，將圓點藝術創作融入日常生活，更使其能見度倍增，逐漸成為家喻戶曉的國際級藝術家。
Yayoi Kusama, who was born in Japan in 1929, is a world famous contemporary artist with the name of“ Polka Dots Queen”. She had been suffering from mental illness and has had acousma and heteroptics since her childhood. In fact, her colorful and vibrant works conceal with the concept of “self-obliteration”. She tries to release herself from fear by painting polka dots repeatedly—painting becomes a cure for self-salvation, and her passion for the creation seems to have no end due to the paranoid disorders. Her artworks are created by multiple mediums, cover a wide range of subjects, and are very easy to be recognized. From paintings and sculptures, to performance art and installation art, they all show the originality of polka dots and infinite nets. After 1990s, she devoted to the field of commercial art and cooperated with fashion design industry, producing clothing with dense polka dots. After that, Polka dots art are integrated into everyday life and her reputation was enhanced highly, too.
