Hilarie Hon
Hilarie Hon (b. 1994, Hong Kong) received her BA (Hons) in Visual Arts from the Academy of Visual Arts at Hong Kong Baptist University in 2016. In recent years, she has participated in several solo and group exhibitions presented by Gallery EXIT in Hong Kong, and her work has also been exhibited in Japan, Hong Kong, and Taipei. She currently lives and works in Hong Kong.
Working primarily in oil painting and mixed media, Hon employs a deeply introspective visual language to explore personal emotions and inner psychological states. She is known for depicting intense, surreal-tinged scenes in which the external world becomes a reflection of her interior landscape and spiritual order. Growing up by the coast, she frequently introduces shifting light, fluid rhythms, and wave-like movement into her compositions. Moving beyond conventional landscape painting, her works evoke fleeting beauty and quiet contemplation, inviting reflection on the passage of time, memory, and the state of existence. For Hon, artistic practice is a prolonged immersion along the threshold between reality and the subconscious—a translucent vessel where, amid shifting currents and flickering light, the most ineffable traces of existence are quietly held.
