Wai Lap Chan 陳惠立
陳惠立，1988年出生於香港，2011年獲英國伯明翰城市大學視覺傳意（榮譽）文學士學位。2023-2024年受香港藝術館委約創作大型裝置《路過蜻蜓》，將游泳池的空間意象移置海港前方，在城市日常中構築一處兼具公共性與私密感的場域。2026年，作品於Art Basel香港展會展出。藝術家亦曾參與香港藝術館、大館當代美術館、油街實現、CHAT六廠及北京798 CUBE等藝術機構的展覽與委約計畫。現生活與工作於香港。
藝術家以個人經驗及對收藏物件的情感為創作起點，透過藝術實踐反思並批判日常生活中的荒謬現象。他擅長運用簡單材料與幽默語彙呈現嚴肅議題，藉此探索觀眾、日常物件與個人經驗之間的關係。近年逐漸轉向對當下內在狀態的關注，並嘗試將游泳所涉及的身體行動與感知經驗融入藝術實踐。陳惠立從記錄一座自童年起就經常造訪的公共游泳池開始，計算不同泳池中的磁磚數量，並將其空間結構重新構築於紙上，使之不僅是被描繪的場所，更成為藝術家整理思緒、沉澱感知並延續創作的方法。
Wai Lap Chan (b. 1988, Hong Kong) received a BA (Hons) in Visual Communication from Birmingham City University. From 2023 to 2024, he was commissioned by the Hong Kong Museum of Art to create the large-scale installation “Dragonfly Passing By”. Transposing the spatial imaginary of the swimming pool onto the harborfront, the work created a site within everyday urban life that was simultaneously public and intimate. In 2026, his work was presented at Art Basel Hong Kong. He has also participated in exhibitions and commissioned projects at institutions including the Hong Kong Museum of Art, Tai Kwun Contemporary, Oil Street Art Space, CHAT (Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile), and 798 CUBE in Beijing. He currently lives and works in Hong Kong.
Drawing on personal experience and his emotional attachment to collectibles, Chan uses his artistic practice to reflect on and critique the absurdities of everyday life. Working with modest materials and a distinctly humorous visual language, he addresses serious subjects while exploring the relationships among viewers, ordinary objects, and lived experience. In recent years, Chan’s practice has increasingly turned toward his immediate inner state. Drawing on his interest in swimming, he incorporates the bodily actions and perceptual experiences associated with the activity into his work. He began by documenting a public swimming pool he had frequented since childhood, counting the tiles in different pools and reconstructing their spatial configurations on paper. The swimming pool thus functions not merely as a subject, but as a conceptual and spatial framework through which the artist organizes his thoughts, distills his perceptions, and sustains his creative practice.
