Winnie Truong
Overview
Winnie Truong，1988 年出生於加拿大多倫多。2010 年獲奧卡德大學美術學士學位，並於 2017 年獲頒查默斯藝術獎學金。她的創作主要通過繪畫和拼貼來探討身份認同、女性主義與幻想等議題，同時涉足數位藝術、動畫及公共藝術專案，並特別關注社區互動。作品曾於加拿大、美國和歐洲多國展出，並被多家藝術機構收藏，包含納曼當代藝術博物館、Bank of Denmark以及RBC Art Collection等。目前生活與工作於多倫多。
Winnie Truong的立體作品結合了傳統繪畫與剪紙拼貼，開創出一種獨特的身份與想像視角 ── 一位來自異域的女性自然主義者。這些細緻入微又融合了植物解剖特徵的形態，彷彿獲得了自主權、美感、性感及目的性。被扭曲的形象與環境相互交織，令觀者難以分辨肢體與葉片的邊界。藝術家藉此探討「形象」與「景觀」之間的遊戲式和諧與衝突，並呈現自然界與超自然界交錯時的張力，從而提供無限的可能性，促使個體在有限的身份與經歷中，進行更深刻的自我反思。
Winnie Truong, born in 1988 in Toronto, Canada, received her BFA from OCAD University in 2010 and was awarded the Chalmers Arts Fellowship in 2017. Her work primarily explores themes of identity, feminism, and fantasy through drawing and collage, while also venturing into digital art, animation, and public art projects with a strong focus on community engagement. Her works have been exhibited across Canada, the US, and Europe. Her work can be found in private collections, including the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Bank of Denmark, and the RBC Art Collection. She currently lives and works in Toronto.
Truong's sculptural works blend traditional drawing with cut paper collage, establishing a distinctive perspective of identity and imagination－a feminist naturalist from another realm. These hybrid botanical/anatomical forms, delicately crafted, are given their own notions of agency, beauty, sensuality, and purpose. The distorted figures blend seamlessly with their environments, challenging viewers to discern where limbs end and leaves begin. Through her art, Truong explores the harmony, conflict, and play between “figures” and “landscapes,” highlighting the tension when the natural world intersects the supernatural, thus offering endless possibilities for deeper introspection within one's limited identities and experiences.

Embers Underfoot
Sep 13 - Nov 8, 2025大河美術將舉辦聯展《Embers Underfoot》，邀請五位來自不同背景的藝術家，包含出生於香港的加拿大籍華裔藝術家陳康俊、加拿大藝術家 WinnieTruong、旅居英國的臺灣藝術家余政諺，以及分別活躍於德英兩國的中國藝術家張新顏與劉欣然。展覽以當前世界的劇變為切入點，聚焦人在不確定性中對信念與價值的堅持，並以「迷信」作為核心概念，進一步提出「迷信」並非狹義的盲信或荒誕，而是一 種文化與心理的產物——既是人類面對未知的本能回應，也是凝聚社群、傳承記憶的象徵性實踐。展覽嘗試跳脫負面語境，從文化、心理與象徵層面，重新探討「迷信」在當代社會中的存在價值。Read more
RIVER ART GALLERY will present the group exhibition “Embers Underfoot”, featuring five artists of diverse backgrounds: Hong Kong-born, Canadian artist Peter Hong-Tsun Chan; Canadian artist Winnie Truong; London-based Taiwanese artist Yu Cheng Yen; and Chinese artists Xinyan Zheng and Xinran Liu, active in Germany and the UK. Taking the upheavals of the contemporary world as a point of departure, the exhibition examines how humanity sustains beliefs and values amid uncertainty. Anchored in the concept of superstition, it reframes the term not as blind faith or irrationality, but as a cultural and psychological phenomenon—both a primal response to the unknown and an emblematic practice that unites communities and preserves memory. The exhibition aims to move beyond a negative framework, reconsidering superstition’s contemporary significance through cultural, psychological, and symbolic lenses. -
ANTIFRAGILE

RIVER ART GALLERY will host a group show of female artists titled “ANTIFRAGILE,” featuring six artists from different countries: Ginny Casey from the United States, Linda Wallis from the United Kingdom, Winnie Truong from Canada, and Taiwanese artist Pei-Han Lin, who currently resides in Norway, along with Chinese artists Xinyan Zhang, based in Germany, and Baoying Huang, based in New York. Through their distinctive creations, this show explores how to not only navigate the uncertainties, chaos, and challenges of today's world but also to thrive amidst them.
