(Sculpture in the Digital Age)的創作系列,也涵蓋歷年持續進行的「時差雕塑」(Space in Time Sculptures)、「視差雕塑」(Parallax Sculptures)、「人生系列雕塑」(Life Series Sculptures)。

RIVER ART GALLERY will present “Streaming Between the Virtual and the Real” in spring 2026. The exhibition focuses on sculptor Xun Wang, who has lived and worked in the United States for over a decade and has served as a special effects art director for Hollywood films. Drawing on the visual language of 3D digital animation and virtual technologies, Wang has developed a body of sculptural work that bridges cinematic imagination and material form. The exhibition will showcase his latest series: “Sculpture in the Digital Age”, alongside ongoing series including “Space in Time Sculptures”, “Parallax Sculptures”, and “Life Series Sculptures”. Characterized by processes of deformation, Wang’s practice continuously traverses the space between the virtual media of the digital age and the physical site. Through the connective, transmissive, and mutable qualities of “streaming,” his works move fluidly between virtuality and reality, redefining the contemporary sculptural context.

On January 10, 2026, RIVER ART GALLERY will host an artist talk and a guided tour led by curator Wang Pin-Hua, in collaboration with Limitless Arts, at Taiwan KAO PENG. Through the virtual and real dimensions of the show, and the digital versus traditional contrast between artworks and the venue, an extraordinary artistic feast unfolds—a transcendent dialogue across time and space!

Wang notes: “In the tide of the digital age, sculpture is evolving from traditional physical craftsmanship toward a fluid, cross-media existence. My practice, centered on ‘streaming’, extends the spirit of classical sculpture into a contemporary technological context. Through motion capture, 3D modeling, and digital generative techniques, I explore the boundaries between form, time, and perception. This exhibition not only reflects on the historical context of sculpture, but also interrogates the redefinition between ‘form’ and ‘humanity’ in the digital present. Traversing between reality and virtuality, memory and computation, the works inhabit a fluid state suspended between the classical and futuristic.”In other words, his practice opens up a profound dialogue that transcends time and space.

Can contemporary sculpture respond to the technological currents unleashed by the digital age of the twenty-first century? How might sculpture transform from the long-standing motif of the human figure, rooted in classical Greek tradition, into a new medium shaped by digital virtuality? The sculptural practice of Xun Wang not only addresses these fundamental questions concerning transformation and innovation in contemporary sculpture but, through the curatorial framework of this exhibition, situates digitally inflected sculptural works within a historic architectural site once used for examinations during the Qing dynasty. The exhibition unfolds at KAO PENG, a former examination hall rearticulated through contemporary architectural language, offering a rare opportunity to recontextualize digital sculpture within a deeply historical setting. This convergence creates a hybrid field in which tradition and contemporaneity, digital virtuality and physical reality, cinema and exhibition-making, artistic event and sculptural theater intersect. Through this cross-temporal dialogue, the exhibition not only opens a new chapter for contemporary sculpture, but also seeks to generate a renewed artistic site where classical and contemporary sensibilities permeate and resonate with one another. The exhibition remains on view through February 8, 2026. Audiences are warmly invited to experience this unique sculptural encounter in person and to immerse themselves in the spatial and perceptual presence of digital sculpture on site.
